Re: Sending secure email - SSL

Hello Artem,

The SMTP server owner has told me to use the port 25.

The SMTP server do not support the port 587 nor TLS encryption.

I was trying to use SSL/TLS to check why the code I have implemented on eTraxis to send emails when a new record is created.

I have cloned part of your code to send emails but I think I have done something wrong because the email is being sent just to one of the recipients I have defined.

Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Hello Jayme,

According to your logs, the connection to the SMTP server was established, but eTraxis couldn't read from it. Maybe timeout issue, maybe required SSL version is not specified in the context (so eTraxis should do that while it currently doesn't), maybe something else.

Unfortunately, I can't help with it as is. If I could get an account at the server, which I can use for test and debug, I would nail down the problem and fix it. Although, if it works for you on port 25, I'm fine with it. :)
Best regards,
Artem

Hello Jayme,

I wrote down the credentials and cleared them from your post for security reasons - please don't be surprised. )

I will try the account soon and let you know.
Best regards,
Artem

Thank you very much.

I could have sent you the account data through a private message.
Best regards.

Hello Jayme,

I have tried this account in a mailing program just to check it works fine, but I was able to send email using 25 port only. Both 465 and 576 give me the error "Connection could not be established".

Meanwhile I was able to send mails using same program via Gmail account - works fine for both 465 and 587, so I think it should be something at the SMTP server.

From another hand, if port 25 works for you, you can keep using it.
Best regards,
Artem

Thank you for the trying, Artem.

I was trying to use SSL because I was not able to send emails to more than one recipient.

Code: Select all

 	.....
              $to             = array('xxxxx@xxxxx.com.br','x2333333@zzzzzzzzz.com.br');
              $recipients = implode(', ', $to);
       ......

       debug_write_log(DEBUG_NOTICE, 'recipients: '. $recipients);

              sendmail('yyyyyyy@yyyyyyyy.com.br', // sender 'yyyyyyyy@yyyyyyyy.com.br'
                       'yyyyyyyyy@yyyyyyyy.com.br',   // $from
                       $recipients,
                       $subject,
                       $message,
                       null,
                       null,
                       null,
                       null);
I have got no any error when using port 25 without SSl, but only one of the recipients have received the email.
Best regards.
