Some questions

Postby kristmon » Wed Jun 24, 2009 4:14 pm

Hello,

I have been evaluating the eTraxis for the last couple of weeks, and it looks really nice, both GUI and PHP. I have a couple of questions:

- We need to create Filter sets for each of the projects to show e.g. open/deferred/closed etc items in eTraxis. Filter sharing is fine, but to me it seems like each user needs to create his own filter sets. So I wonder whether it would be possible either to share filter sets, and/or have some filterset import/export functionality?

- Subrecords are great. But it is hard to get an overview of what subtasks a task has. Is there any way to sort subrecords so they are shown like a treeview or similar, below the parent task?

- Regarding LDAP: I had to modify my LDAP records, because I did originally not use the displayName attribute. It was not very hard for me to find out why no users were able to authenticate via LDAP, but I suggest that you either document the attributes required for LDAP authentication, or add the attributes into the config.php file, so people can change from displayName to for example cn (I saw that bug-471 mentioned it, but flexibility sounds great to me).

- Is there any roadmap for the project? I have been browsing around on the page, but cannot seem to find anything. You have mentioned that 2.0 will be released; is there any new cool functionality there?

Regards,

Kristian

Hello Kristian,

Yes, you are right - I think it will be really useful, and absence of shared filter sets impairs effectiveness of shared filters feature. I will implement this feature in "2.0" line.
kristmon wrote:Subrecords are great. But it is hard to get an overview of what subtasks a task has. Is there any way to sort subrecords so they are shown like a treeview or similar, below the parent task?
I thought about such feature before and see it like displaying "parent" records as nodes and their subrecords as subitems right in the list of records (so the list will become a "tree"). By default all subitems will be collapsed, but presence of "plus" sign will clearly show to user which records have subrecords attached. What do you think about such approach?

I think it's better to make it configurable, just like it's already done for 'samaccountname' attribute (I believe you saw the 'LDAP_LOGIN_ATTR' option in 'engine/config.php'). And this is one more feature for future "2.0" line again. :)

There is no roadmap but I think it's good to have one. I will create the one shortly somewhere in 'Documentation' section and let you know.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Sounds good. An addition could be to have a "Collapse all" button/link, and an "Expand all" button/link. Sometimes one may want to hide all subtasks, while other times one may want to get an overview of all tasks. Each user's current view could maybe also be saved in the database, so every time he logs in, it will look similar to how he left it earlier.

Thanks,
Kristian

Just would like to inform that I implemented configurable LDAP options and released this as new version 1.21.10.
